Project: Ulysses

Following the success of Orfeo in 2016 the ROH undertook a production of Ulysses, fully in the round at the Roundhouse.
Ian Dierden of Sound Intermedia led the project and Simon Hendry mixed the shows. Tony from our team designed the system and logistics and we started the year loading into the Roundhouse to be ready for production rehearsals in early January.
We provided all the audio infrastructure along with relay screens and cue lights and of course provided a team to wrangle radio mics and look after the system throughout.
A mix of UPJs and M’elodie were used with a CL5 at control. One major twist – in this case literally- was that the orchestra, located in the centre of the circular set where on a turntable and swivelled sedately round throughout the performance.
It is testament to Tony’s planning that all the required cable was installed in good time before the turntable was sealed and all if it worked faultlessly throughout.
It has to be said that Tony had enough headspace left to concentrate on getting a camera exactly where he wanted it to achieve the picture below. A man of many talents:
