SOUTHBANK CENTRE
RNSS Ltd was also able to work with Southbank Centre in their role for the Olympic torch parade. The torch made its way down from Trafalgar Square to the O2 stopping off at Jubilee Pier, and the Royal Festival Hall enroute. Outside the Royal Festival Hall there were festivities to welcome the torch, including Dohl drummers, dancers and a truly enormous choir made up from a diverse range of choral groups. All in all there were approximately 800 performers involved.
With security issues being so important and a potentially huge audience our flexibility and creativity were certainly tested. New rigging points were created by us on the structures outside the Hall from which we hung Melodie line arrays. Our outdoor stands and waterproofing systems were deployed all along the length of Queens walk. All of this had to be installed in one day, for one rehearsal on the following morning, the show day. It was tight schedule, but achievable. None of us expected however to be greeted by two inches of snow when we arrived at 0600. And it was still falling.
We came up with a B plan involving the level 5 balcony and foyer areas, which was agreed with the production team and which we implemented by 1100. At which point the snow stopped.
With less than an hour to go the production team made the decision to go ahead outside and our team reversed plan B and reset the outdoor stage, following the sweepers as they cleared the melting snow. The last choir mics were plugged in as the torch arrived at Jubilee pier and the show was called a moment later.
Thankfully it went well, and the torch made it on and off the stage without incident.
BRITISH TELECOM
Alongside approximately 20 other companies RNSS Ltd was proud to be appointed to the new Events and Corporate Hospitality Rosta. We are delighted to be able to be able to support British Telecom in this area and look forward to working alongside them delivering the very highest standard of presentation and support.
Amongst our projects with BT, one at the Radisson Stansted in particular required a dedicated project manager from RNSS Ltd to deliver the very highest standard of presentation and support.
Last month we were able to spread our wings to Norwich, providing support to Blackwing Ltd during the Norfolk and Norwich Festival. Blackwing were tasked with providing services to a range of venues from the Cathedral to the Theatre Royal. The festival ran over two weeks and included artistes such as Tango Sempre, Maceo Parker, Laurie Anderson and Roberto Fonseca. Andy Pinks requirements for Michael Clarke companys performance at the Theatre required close collaboration between all parties and we were delighted that he was so pleased with the result:
A huge success -thank you! Rave reviews etc Galileo, Manley and UPJ is the dream ticket. Help was much appreciated, Until next time Andy P
RNSS Ltd role was very much to form a solid, reliable and flexible support base to allow Blackwings team to concentrate on the client facing aspects of production. Such invisible but reliable cooperation is a keystone to our business and we value the relationships we develop.
NATIONWIDE
Weve also been incredibly busy outside London, with regular trips to Birmingham to support the team at the Symphony Hall and Town Hall with a wide range of events in their recently refurbished venue. We were fortunate enough to be selected to provide the systems for the Town Halls opening season last year, three weeks of intensively varied performances that required us to fit seamlessly into the house technical team. The new Halls acoustics are fantastically improved and it is always a pleasure to be involved there.
SMALLER CARBON FOOTPRINT
With global warming being an ever more pressing issue we have also changed the way we work to reduce our carbon footprint. Most tangibly we have begun a program of updating our vehicles with the purchase of two new Euro 4 compliant 7.5t trucks.
Our workload began in earnest straight after the New Year celebrations. RNSS Ltd were delighted to be able to support The Barbican Centre with its production of The Battleship Potemkin. The Pet Shop Boys and the London Symphony Orchestra came together to provide the live soundtrack to this film and RNSS Ltd worked as part of the Barbicans technical team to supply both equipment and services for both rehearsals and the performances.
RNSS
2008 has become a year to remember, with RNSS being awarded ISO 9001:2000 certification a full 9 months ahead of schedule. This has been done alongside the major reconfiguring of our company structure. Through this we have clarified our procedures to allow us to improve our quality of service to both our clients and industry partners. We welcomed our new office assistant, Katya, at the end of last year and recently brought Tom Hammond into the warehouse team. Genevieve Quarrington joined us in the summer as account manager and is key to the implementation of our new company systems.
Katherine, our administrator, has been on maternity leave enjoying getting to know her first born and we wish the family all the very best for the future.

Thanks SO much for making last nights event such as successful one! Dennis was phenomenal on the desk, very calm and thorough throughout, and the whole sound and lighting crew were just brilliant. All the artists were bowled over by the level of technical support and expertise that we injected into the show, and it seemed to go down very well with audiences and other colleagues here too.
I felt privileged to be a part of such a professional and creative team, so thanks again.
Can you please pass my thanks on to Richard, James and Roland for last night. The boat looked fantastic and the event went without a hitch. I always enjoy working with the RNSS team and will surely be in touch for more jobs ion the future.
