2011

What is happening in our world?

Happily we reckon we’re working on more shows than ever before and during this packed schedule, as well as running our ongoing equipment maintenance programme, we are working with the Southbank Centre’s technical team on their inventory and maintenance checks and updates. Looking to the future: we mentioned in our last newsletter that we’ve been lucky enough to secure premises right next to the Olympic Park in London. With the impact of additional visitors to London that could make moving around the capital extremely challenging, this will be an important and exciting place to be during 2012. Are you moving this year?

Our tours continue to take us the length and breadth of the UK.

Penguins on the March
The Penguin Cafe’s iconic music has featured in many film scores including Napoleon Dynamite to countless theme tunes; their festival dates have included Bestival and The Big Chill to a sold out concert at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Proms. Their sound is at once familiar and new, combining
acoustic power and a beguiling, feisty charm. This year we are supported them on their sell out National tour of the UK, visiting: Croydon, Nottingham, Manchester, London, Basingstoke, Warwick, Bristol, Northampton, Brighton, Gateshead and Edinburgh.

Creole Choir Cuba
Creating the heat of the Caribbean with vibrant dancing and fantastic harmonies. Appearing at London, Croydon, Bury St Edmunds, Manchester, Birmingham, Basingstoke, Southampton, Chichester, Nottingham.

Horrible Histories and George’s Marvellous Medicine Theatre Tours
This award winning children’s educational romp goes from strength to strength. Touring throughout the UK. RNSS Ltd is very proud to have been supporting both shows since their incarnation in 2006 and 2007 respectively.

Art Angel and Susan Philipsz Turner Prize winner

We have had the pleasure of working on a number of Art Angel projects in the past. This time we were invited to work on an exciting piece presenting us with the unique challenge of installing speakers in places which simply weren’t meant to have them.

In total six locations were used in and around the City of London: Change Alley, London Bridge, Mark Lane, Milk Street, Moorfields Highwalk and Tokenhouse Yard where the passerby could hear Susan Philipsz singing a piece entitled Surround Me. This song cycle “…embraced the vocal traditions of the City of London connecting themes of love and loss.” To find out more visit: http://www.artangel.org.uk/surroundme

Globe Installation

Begun in 2010 our work at the world famous reincarnation of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre on London’s South Bank is now complete. Involving the full installation of audio and audio visual equipment in the Globe’s Rehearsal Rooms: the Sackler Studios, we supplied speakers, induction loop, interactive whiteboards and rack mounted systems for four studios, main rehearsal room and educational room.

The Sackler Studios, made possible by charitable donations and a generous primary grant from The Dr. Mortimer and Theresa Sackler Foundation, will provide Globe Education with four workshop studios and a rehearsal space for students and theatre practitioners. Designed by Globe architect Jon Greenfield, with input and internal designs by award-winning architects Eldridge Smerin, the design reflects the Globe Theatre by bringing in the use of oak and the shape of the theatre.

In the café we supplied speaker system, induction loop and plasma screen linked to a mainframe server network. Throughout the building we ran in the cabling infrastructure for the equipment currently in use and also future planned equipment as well. You’ll find the studios close to the Globe Theatre on the corner of Bear Gardens and Park Street.

I am the Pet Shop Boys FOH engineer (for want of a better term!!!). and obviously as such was one of the three engineers involved in the recent show at the Barbican.

I just wanted to write and say how delighted and happy we were with all aspects of the service we received from your company and crew who were efiicient, friendly and all round good blokes and bloke-ess!!!!

Looking forward to working with you again in the future.

Thanks SO much for making last night’s event such as successful one! Dennis was phenomenal on the desk, very calm and thorough throughout, and the whole sound and lighting crew were just brilliant. All the artists were bowled over by the level of technical support and expertise that we injected into the show, and it seemed to go down very well with audiences and other colleagues here too.

I felt privileged to be a part of such a professional and creative team, so thanks again.

Can you please pass my thanks on to Richard, James and Roland for last night. The boat looked fantastic and the event went without a hitch. I always enjoy working with the RNSS team and will surely be in touch for more jobs ion the future.
